ABOUT SUSURRO:

standard yarn weight icon

This breezy yarn is soft and light, making it the ultimate summer yarn. Susurro is 50% Mulberry silk, 25% Merino, and 25% Linen wound as a single ply into a DK/Sport weight. The fusion of these 3 very different fibres results in an amazing depth of colour, giving the yarn an almost metallic sheen. This yarn has a marvellous balance due to the sharp contrast between the crude texture of the linen and the silkiness of the Merino.

Great for: Shawls, scarves, accessories, lace, textured stitches, cables, lightweight garments.

Be sure to buy enough yarn to complete your project because each bag is a different dye lot, and skeins may vary from bag to bag. Skeins also may vary one from the other even within the same bag. To ensure random colour distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball.

When Malabrigo dyes their yarns, the same formula is used each time but every batch of yarn is assigned a different dye lot number. The differences from one dye lot to another can be very subtle, or, it can be extremely noticeable, specially on variegated yarns.

When Malabrigo assigns a dye lot number the main use is to identify which skeins can be labeled and packed together. After their quality control team checks the skeins, they go to the labelling section and are then are put in bags of five or ten (depending on the yarn).

Once the bags get to the yarn stores, most skeins go to different shelves where they can get mixed. The dye lot code is really helpful when you try to find skeins that match.

The colours shown in photos are illustrated as a reference only because as mentioned above, they can differ more or less in tone, due to the hand-dyed process.
